Jade Marty is a San Angelo native and
recent graduate of Angelo State University
with a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary
Studies in English and Sociology. With
leadership experience as the former
President of Alpha Phi and work in
community outreach at organizations like
House of Faith and Camp Cho-Yeh, Jade
is passionate about creating engaging
experiences and building lasting
connections. Her dynamic energy and
strong communication skills make her a
perfect fit for leading downtown events
and member engagement efforts.

As we turn the page into a new season, I’m thrilled to bring you the latest stories and updates from the heart of our city.
This edition is especially meaningful as we welcome a new face to the Downtown San Angelo, Inc. family—Jade Marty,
our new Membership and Events Coordinator. Jade brings a fresh perspective and boundless enthusiasm to downtown,
backed by a strong background in community programming, media, and event planning. Her experience with local
nonprofits, student leadership, and communications makes her a valuable asset as we continue to grow our downtown
presence and impact. We’re excited to see how her creativity and leadership will help elevate events, strengthen our
partnerships, and connect even more people to the downtown community.

Among our featured stories, you’ll find a heartfelt article honoring former Mayor Brenda Gunter. Her visionary
leadership, especially her tireless advocacy for revitalizing our downtown and prioritizing projects like the Streetscape
initiative and public art, continues to shape San Angelo in powerful ways.
You’ll also enjoy a deep dive into San Angelo’s origins with “A Fort, A Flood, and the Fortitude of Our Founders,”
tracing the city’s remarkable journey from a rough frontier settlement to the vibrant community we know today.
In the spirit of continued transformation, we are especially excited about the newly installed “Celebrating Downtown”
banner flags that now adorn our streets. These vibrant banners reflect the culture, spirit, and charm that make
Downtown San Angelo such a unique destination. If you haven’t seen them yet, I encourage you to take a walk and
